Batik Cap of Laweyan
Batik Cap or Batik Stamp is a form of batik making that use stamp from copper that carved according to the pattern. The copper stamp or called Canting Cap is about 20 cm x 20 cm in average. After melting the wax, the craftsmen will stamp the canting first in the wax then stamp it to the fabric. If we look a bit closer, batik cap has differences with other batik. Where one ornament with another is definitely the same, but the shape of isen-isen is not neat, a bit tenuous and a bit stiff. As for the Laweyan itself is an area Solo which has many batik craftsmen, the community often call it Kampung Batik Laweyan.
Boiling the printed fabric is to remove the wax from the fabric to reveal the pattern.
